7.3.1 The details of the performance of the institution in one area distinctive to its vision, priority and thrust 2017_18

Shri Kishandas Kikani Arts and Commerce College, Dhandhuka as established 1964, is a premier co-education institute of Ahmedabad interior rural area. Affiliated to the Gujarat University, Ahmedabad. College is accredited ‘B’ grade by NAAC in the year 2008-09. The institute offers Two courses at commerce and arts Undergraduate level courses. Apart from this, our institute through its sports and social activities established a strong bond with the local community and is popular for its humanitarian zeal in surrounding areas. The college possesses a vibrant and active sports and N.S.S (National Service Scheme) Unit Which includes active volunteers, always ready to serve in any difficult situations. The unit regularly organizes Yoga Training, Fitness Drive, Patriotic programmes and activities and thus instils important values and ethics like nationalism, discipline, courage, self-confidence and humanity among students. It creates awareness about deaddiction, superstition, illiteracy, girl education, women empowerment, girl infanticide (Beti-Bachao Beti-Padhavo) etc., among the people of surrounding areas. The active group of dedicated volunteers are always eager to organize awareness camps, cleanliness drive, blood donation camps, dedication drives, tree plantation, HIV (AIDS) awareness, literacy Campaign, Street plays for health awareness etc. This unit also organizes a weekly Shibir (Off-Campus Workshop) in nearby villages every year. During these days of off-campus workshops, volunteers organize various social awareness activities and campaigns living among the villagers. The unit always remains vigilant and alert to fight against any natural or man-made calamities. It plans various programmes and collective extension activities for national and social awakening. It also organizes activities like rallies, celebrations of Republic and Independence Day and many other events of national importance. Because of this, our college has become a distinct and unique institute of the region which is very near to the people’s heart in their days of distress and happiness.

7.2.1 Two Institutional best practices 2017_18

Objectives: To spread higher education among the students of less privileged society in general and female students in particular. To reduce women dropout in higher education. To provide facilities of higher education to girls students. To provide better opportunities for girl students and develop their holistic personality. To help them solve their social and economicalproblems.To make girls students aware of their human and legal rights with selfconfidence and self-respect. Context : The college is situated in an educationally backward interior rural area and the majority of the students are associated with farming and animal husbandry. Social upliftment is the ultimate goal of our college. Our institution has determined community service in the best possible manner. The larger part of the student strength of the college is of girls students coming from surrounding rural areas. The society is affected by all customs like child marriage and no higher education for girls etc. Therefore the activities and programmes organised by N.S.S. The unit and CWDC of the college are chiefly focussing on women empowerment. Institute has an almost equal number of girl students. Separate girls common room. Girls are given equal opportunities and encouraged to complete their higher studies. Girls participation in maximum numbers in all activities. The NSS unit and CWDC make the girl students aware of their fundamental and legal rights. The NSS camp conducts various missions like to cultivate cleanliness, against addictions, against superstitions, awareness of the environment, save water, petrol, electricity and environment. The CWDC has been actively working in the direction of women empowerment by conducting various activities like awareness of inviting celebrities and prominent figures to provide inspiration and encouragement to girls students.

Achievement : Maximum students of girl students in Distinction and First class. More girl students in the topper students in UG classes. More number of girl students are going for higher education. i.e. M.A., M.Com., LL.B and B.Ed. Many girl students are serving as teachers in nearby schools and police departments. 2. Sports Objectives: To encourage youth to participate in sports activities from inter class to national level competitions. To nurture interest in sports activities as well as to inculcate and encourage interest among students. The Institution emphasises on healthy youth in particular and the healthy national environment in general. To provide career opportunities through making a career in sports activities. The context : Institute has a large campus area and sports ground - 6.03 acres. The college has gymkhana with modern equipment. The college has a newly indoor sports hall (36 X 24 X 12.5 m.) developed by UGC 11th Plan. Facility for indoor and outdoor games. Institute has sufficient standard sports equipment. Sports Committee in place and it has the maximum amount distribution. TA/DA, refreshment, uniforms, moment, case price, given to sportspersons. The Practice : Students of rural areas have great potential for indoor-outdoor sports and the Institution provides an opportunity to bring about this hidden talent of the students. Participation in Sports activities inculcate physical and mental health of the students . Practice and guidance given by experienced physical education faculty members. The sports committee offers students the opportunity to make team selections without discrimination. Achievement : Students participated in Sports and Games inter class 155, inter college 87, gujarat State 03 and national level 01. Medals/awards won by students in Sports and Games at national level 01. College Weightlifting and Powerlifting teams are the continuation champions in Gujarat university. Colleges have organised Ahmedabad rural area weight lifting competition. Mostly our players after graduation are set in various government jobs like police department up to PSI, defense, fire briged and physical education teachers.

4.4.2 – Procedures and Policies for maintaining and utilizing physical, academic and support facilities - laboratory, library, sports complex, computers, classrooms etc 2017_18

Shri Kishandas Kikani Arts and Commerce College, Dhandhuka, has made arrangements for maintenance of the infrastructure. The college is one of the oldest colleges in the BHAL area of Ahmedabad rural, Gujarat. The college applies for various UGC grants—Development Grants. Besides, the college receives annual grants from the state government under the banner of Saptadhara, Udisha and NSS. The ultimate aim of the grants is to give the maximum benefit to the students. The College Development Grants are utilized for construction and renovation, for purchase of books, journals and cupboards, for developing the Internet facility and ICT in classrooms, for purchasing useful computer accessories and software. After receiving the grants, the principal proceeds to fulfill the requirements of the students and the faculty in order of preference and in keeping in view the proposal and sanction letter by UGC and other funding agencies. After expending the said grants, the Utilization Certificate, along with the sign of the Head of the Institution and Chartered Accountant is submitted to UGC and other funding agencies along with the requisite supporting documents. The NOC of the Utilization Certificate is sought by the institution from various funding agencies. The records of purchase of various items under various heads of various grants are maintained by the administrative staff of the institution.
